Internship Program

Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral & Emergency is offering qualified candidates a 53-week rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. Our program is designed to prepare the motivated intern for residency training or high quality general practice. Our doctors have a passion for teaching and we are committed to graduating outstanding veterinarians from our internship program.

Each intern will rotate through one-week blocks on the following specialties: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Cardiology (external), and Radiology. Interns also rotate through overnight emergency duty, daytime emergency shifts, and holidays. There are three additional external (outside of our facility) rotations, each one week in duration. These will include and not be limited to ophthalmology, local general practice and advanced anesthesia training.

DCVR is committed to advancing the veterinary profession by providing guidance and experience to new veterinarians wishing to be exposed to and practice the highest quality medicine.

Our staff doctors are highly trained professionals who are enthusiastic about their work, and as a result, offer an exceptional support system within our teaching hospital. Our family atmosphere and personal mentoring provide the foundation upon which to build confidence, versatility, and expertise. We match a specialist or internship coordinator with each intern for individual mentorship and guidance throughout the year.
