Dr. P. Katie Gagliardo is a staff emergency clinician. Dr. Gagliardo is Maryland born and raised. She graduated with honors from Earlham College with an undergraduate degree in Biology. She has been in the veterinary field for over a decade and prior to veterinary school she worked as a veterinary technician. After graduating from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine she completed a one-year rotating internship here at DCES. Dr. Gagliardo loves the hospital and staff of DCES and has a passion for emergency medicine so after completing the internship she stayed on as staff emergency clinician. She has a special interest in urologic emergencies and surgery. She is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Association of Shelter Veterinarians. In her free time, Dr. Gagliardo helps run a pit bull rescue and volunteers for a Spay/Neuter Clinic. She has two pit bull mixes, Folsom and Sage, and always has a foster dog or two who are waiting to be adopted. She enjoys running, hiking, exploring the area, and spending time with family and friends.
