Dr. Alaina Cargill grew up in the Bahamas where she first discovered her love for animal welfare by caring for the numerous strays and wildlife around the country. Dr. Cargill completed both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Ecology at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where she spent most of her free time volunteering at the local zoo and working in animal behavior labs. Dr. Cargill completed her veterinary degree at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She then moved to Maryland to complete a rotating internship at DCES, where she then stayed on as a full-time staff emergency clinician. Dr. Cargill has a particular interest in cardiology, neurology and urology. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Cargill spends her free time caring after her numerous houseplants and her Persian cat, Venus. She also loves spending large amounts of time doing various forms of exercise (hiking, biking, running, lifting), traveling and exploring local restaurants.
