Dr. Gagliardo

Dr. P. Katie Gagliardo is a staff emergency clinician. Dr. Gagliardo is Maryland-born and raised. She graduated with honors from Earlham College with an undergraduate degree in Biology. She has been in the veterinary field for over a decade and, prior to veterinary school, she worked as a veterinary technician. After graduating from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, she completed a one-year rotating internship here at DCES. Dr. Gagliardo loves the hospital and staff of DCES and has a passion for emergency medicine, so after completing the internship, she stayed on as a staff emergency clinician. She has a special interest in urologic emergencies and surgery. She is a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Association of Shelter Veterinarians. In her free time, Dr. Gagliardo helps run a pit bull rescue and volunteers for a Spay/Neuter Clinic. She has two pit bull mixes, Folsom and Sage, and always has a foster dog or two who are waiting to be adopted. She enjoys running, hiking, exploring the area, and spending time with family and friends.
